Providing the basic essentials within our community to anyone who needs a little hope.

Here at Rachel’s Hope, we believe that everyone should have access to personal hygiene and household cleaning essentials. We strive to provide accessible assistance of these essentials to anyone who presents a need, regardless of their life circumstances.

Our Core Values:

Accessibility

We offer delivery to homes, no questions asked. It's not a special request, it's an option provided to all who seek assistance.

There is NO ELIGIBILITY, meaning you don't have to meet any criteria. The only eligibility is that you are in need.

Convenience

Lives are busy, especially when you're living in crisis. You can request anywhere, anytime, from the comfort of your own home.

Reliability

We pride ourselves on being consistent in what we are offering and that our community knows what to expect when asking for help.

Anonymity

Pride is tricky and asking for help is not easy which is why being able to ask for help electronically is paramount.

Community Driven

Listening to the people receiving services is essential and we will always value the people we serve, their backgrounds, lives, and opinions.

"I think this was a very much needed service for the community. There are so many times I needed items like this but couldn't afford it and couldn't find anywhere that would donate items like this. I am incredibly grateful to you for the help for me and my community. Thank you."

How It Works

Hey! I’m Amanda, founder of Rachel’s Hope.

Through the work I do in my job, I watched countless people in financial distress forego purchasing personal hygiene and household essentials to make sure their other needs are met.  Seeing how this impacted both the individual and their family made me know that I needed to address this need.

After a lot of conversations with my closest coworkers, I was introduced to Building Our Families. Together we were able to determine that our missions aligned, and I was graciously provided the opportunity to become a partner and offer Rachel's Hope services under their organization.

I am so overjoyed to be able to work with this wonderful organization and operating a service honoring my beloved sister to serve our amazing community.

The Reason Behind The Name

Hi everyone! I’m Amanda’s sister Rachel, the name behind Rachel’s Hope.

Fun facts: I’m married with 2 fur babies. I have 4 sisters, my absolute best friends. I have a niece and 2 nephews that I love and adore more than anything. I am obsessed with Harry Potter, donuts, summer, Christmas, and gift giving.

On a serious note, I was born with FSH muscular dystrophy, a degenerative neuromuscular disease. While this disease doesn’t define who I am, it has significantly impacted the way I view the world.

At my core I think I would best describe myself as a nurturer. Loving people, taking care of people, and helping people all bring me an immense amount of joy. I have been this way for as long as I can remember.

Having a debilitating disease that made me so different gave me a unique perspective on life and people in general. I very often felt judged and overlooked because of my physical condition, and not seen for who I really am. And it’s because of this that I have had the ability to see beyond the surface in people. I’ve learned that people just want to be seen, heard, loved, and cared for.

It’s for all these reasons that I have always wanted to help people in any way that I could. For me this meant showing kindness, positivity, and donating to countless causes over the years as often as I could, as much as I could. I want to make a difference in this world. I believe when you shed light and love onto people, it causes a ripple effect that could eventually spread to countless other lives. I guess in the grand scheme of things, I just want my life to matter and make a difference.

I am beyond proud of Amanda for recognizing this need in our community and taking action to do something about it. She often tells me it’s because of me that she is the way she is. Despite our 9 year age difference, we have always been extremely close; in fact, I often tell her she’s my soulmate. Quite frankly, it has been the greatest honor of my life being her big sister and knowing I had such a big influence on her life. She truly is an amazing human being and so loving and giving. And I am so humbled that she asked to put my name on this organization.

Because of my muscular dystrophy, I am now in respiratory failure, so it means the world to me to know that my name will have a legacy of some kind long after I am gone.

I love my community so much and if you’re reading this, I hope it inspires you in some way to take action, whether it’s donating to this cause or just giving a stranger a smile. Even the smallest act of kindness can make the world a better place. I’m so excited for our community and the many people this will help. If we all come together and work as a community, I know we can all make this organization a tremendous success.
